Issue Analysis
Economy:
Angle: to get the economy moving again she wants to cut spending, pay back the national debt, and make permanent the Bush Tax Cuts. This would give the business community confidence they need to start creating jobs and hiring again.
Reid: He led the Senate in passing the American recovery and Reinvestment Act this winter, and made Nevada’s sales tax deduction permanent. This deducts sales tax they pay from their federal returns. Funding from the Recovery Act is putting teachers back in classrooms, police officers back on the street and creates more jobs.

Education:
Angle: she is a teacher and is very committed to education. She believes that parents and teachers at the state and local level best make education decisions. They are invested in the lives of children and they are the ones teaching. She wants to put the money as close to the state and local level as possible.
Reid: believes that education is a critical aspect in strengthening the economy. He helped secure $400 million in funding fro Nevada schools, colleges and universities in the American Recover and Reinvestment Act. This will ensure that tuition doesn’t rise, teachers don’t lose jobs and students have the best resources available.

Immigration:
Angle: believes border security and illegal immigration is a problem. The United States must secure its borders immediately and enforce the laws that already exist.
Reid: he believes the in the Dream Act. If you are brought to this country as a child, have stayed in school and out of trouble, you should have the same shot at the American Dream as any other child. He is responsible for a comprehensive immigration reform that strengthens our immigration laws and secures the border.

Taxes:
Angle: was consistently the only vote against unnecessary tax increases and voted against more than 100 attempts to increase taxes and fees. She sponsored Nevada’s proposition 13 which place a hard cap on property tax increase that future legislatures couldn’t repeal.
Reid: committed to keeping taxes low. The recovery and reinvestment act will put more then $500 million back in the pockets of nearly 1 million families. He led the Senate in extending tax credits for middle class families. And is a long time supporter in reducing the tax burden on Nevada’s middle class.

Energy:
Angle: believes that America needs to build on the vast coal and natural gas resources and expand domestic oil resources. Wants to reduce dependence on foreign oil, which will provide high paying jobs and expand the company.
Reid: Wants Nevada to be the nation’s clean energy leader. He wants to develop a clean energy industry and with Nevada’s abundant renewable energy potential will help end the dependence on foreign oil.

Republican Sharron Angle has moved up to a 4-point lead over Harry Reid. A survey has shown Angle hitting the 50% mark while Reid only earns 46% or the votes. This has been the biggest gap between the 2 candidates since June. But the race still remains a toss up. Just a week ago the election was pretty much tied with Reid at 48% and Angle at 47%. But ever since Reid came back in June with a series of attack ads on Angle 3 points have separated them.
